Working Groups

The "working group" concept brings together researches from across campuses.  This interdisciplinary collaborative effort fundamentally encourages thinking outside of traditional channels, processes and systems.  This process has consistently produced innovative and creative research proposals with the potential for high impact in targeted fields.

BLOOD BRAIN BARRIER - The goal of the working group is to bring together researchers with interest in the blood-brain barrier, promote exchange of ideas, and initiate interdisciplinary collaborations. Coordinators: Jeff Rothstein, Peter Searson - Learn more about the blood brain barrier working group

Next meeting: TBA

BRAIN ACTIVITY MAP - The goal of this working group is to address the new NIH BRAIN Initiative by focusing on methods and techniques to measure brain activity and connectivity using imaging and electrophysiological approaches. This group brings together neuroscientists, engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians and nanotechnologists to discuss new methods of analysis and we especially encourage members of the School of Engineering and the School of Arts and Sciences to participate. The goal is to establish novel collaborations and interactions to address the Brain Activity Map and to apply for funding in this area in the future.  Coordinators: Jin Kang, Daniel O'Connor

Next meeting: TBA

COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE - This working group serves as the meeting point of people at JHU that study the nervous system using computational/theoretical methods. Meetings will have presentations by participating researchers and discussions about current topics in the field. A light lunch will be served. Meetings are open to all faculty, postdocs and students who are interested in using computational and theoretical methods in neuroscience.  Coordinators: Ernst Niebur, Kechen Zhang

Next meeting:  TBA
